Stages of Rosacea

Rosacea appears to have differing degrees of severity including various stages patients may go through. Some rosacea patients experience more agressive stages than others.

Mild Rosacea - Typically seen as mild facial flushing or redness that lasts only a short period of time.

Moderate Rosacea - The mild facial flushing or redness now lasts a longer adnormal amount of time - sometimes days or weeks. Many patients also report breakouts of pimples, bumps & facial veins.

Sereve Rosacea - A small portion of sufferers progress to the final stage of rosacea which is characterized by intense bouts of facial flushing, severe inflammation, swelling, facial pain, and debilitating burning sensations. On top of the inflammation can emerge crops of inflammatory papules and pustules. At this stage, some patients may also develop rhinophyma (rino-fi-ma), a bulbous enlargement of the nose.
